Silo in the making

Last fall we decided that we were in need of a larger silo and for it to change directions for loading and unloading.  You see we had a near accident where someone didn't make the clearance and nearly backed the dump truck into the manure pit instead of driving into the silo entrance.
Here is Karl leveling the area where the new cement pad will be laid to expand the existing bunker silo.

All done the pad! They are now setting out the "lego" blocks for the newly shaped silo.

As you can see here many of the blocks are still going in the direction of the old silo.

All done! We now have 3 bays, 4 blocks high instead of 1 bay 5 blocks high.

 From another angle...

Putting the first loads of grass in from this springs crop.

Laying plastic over the sides to seal the silo when done filling.

All done! the grass is off and the silo closed up.

One of the many projects Karl had on the go... more to come :)
